Octopus à Velha Aldeia,

Unimaginable. Right there, in Ossos square, kind of hidden in the background. It's part of an inn that's right on the sand with Praia dos Ossos. It's been there for 8 or 9 years. Although I've been going to Búzios reasonably often since '86, I hadn't heard of it before. I love octopus, I make octopus with mastery, as always in Spain (Galicia), but in restaurants here, I'm almost always disappointed. This time, I wasn't disappointed. I ordered octopus a la vieja. (Octopus tentacles grilled in olive oil and served with aromatic mashed sweet potatoes and a house tomato sauce with fresh basil and saffron).

One of the best restaurants in Búzios, the gastronomic scene in the city is very good, but La Gare has won my heart in many ways.

The menu is terrific, the food is impressive and the service impeccable... on top of everything there is live music that is pure poetry to the ears.

I liked La Gare so much that I returned for dinner the next day, with highlights including the infinite chocolate mousse (lol), the filet mignon in mustard sauce and the prawn gnocchi.

The kind of experience that's worth every penny, I've been back many times!

The delicious breakfast with freshly made dishes, the beautiful and super comfortable room (there's a delicate service to open the bed at night), the La Gare restaurant with live music in some evenings and the attentive service of Lucas on the seafront.

Perfect service and wonderful meals (highlights include breakfast, lunch dishes and the chocolate mousse for dessert).

The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is incredible and the service is excellent. We went for dinner on a Friday and Saturday, both days with very pleasant live music in a beautiful open space. I had the gnocci with prawn sauce, undoubtedly the best food in the restaurant. And the seafood risotto is wonderful too. If you're going to Búzios and like to eat well, you can't miss it.
